Laser Cut Woodblock Prints
Ink on Paper

These woodblocks are derived from photographs made of cars with ‘unphotographable’ vinyl wrap camouflage used when road testing prototype vehicles. The wraps are designed to confuse autofocus functions and disguise contours. Avidly shot by ‘spy photographers’ trying to get the latest scoops on car manufacturers, the low res jpegs shared online are usually watermarked to protect copyright. These files have been appropriated, cropped and converted to bitmap files to make laser cut woodblock prints referencing the Vorticists and their applied art made at a time of warfare. They break down the relationship between analogue, digital, image, subject, surface and representation.
